I just had a 6" jackplate put on my procraft..The guy who put it on said he had it set up right. Before i had it installed i had no problem with the steering now i can barely turn the wheel when up on plane.. when im ideling around boat steers fine.. i read somewhere that my motor might be set to high,,, anyone know something about this kind of problem... thanks

It is called torque steer. It is common when the engine is raised. The tab above the prop is to counter the action the prop is putting on the engine. Problem is they come out of the water and become useless when the engine is raised. To combat this there are torq tammers. These bolt, rivet or weld onto the skeg. They help a ton. I use both the rivet on ones and the welded on ones. It all depends on your application and how much torque you have. Here are the ones I use. Hope this helps!
