I was just wondering who most of you insure your boats with. I might be buying a new (used) boat and 21ft sprint bass boat and I currently got a quote from progressive and I thought they were a little high. Just curios too see who might be a better deal.

I am with Farm Bureau. I think we pay $545 a year for my 2007 Stratos 200 XL with 225 Pro XS. I tried progressive and it was a lot higher.

Try Nationwide with Gary Brown agency. The rates change but he is good at explaining the coverage and will be honest in you getting the best deal.

$162 year with allstate on an 89 bullet also covering whats in the boat(rods/reels/tackle) as well as "critter coverage" (wires getting chewed up)

$360 a year with Travelers. That includes a $10,000 rider to cover lost or stolen tackle. The rider is an additional $100, so it would actually be around $260 for a 2005 Triton TR186 with a Johnson 175.

It is usually cheaper to have your boat coverage included on your homeowners policy. I have mine on my Farm Bureau home policy and also have 10K in tackle coverage and have also increased liability and medical to the max. Im paying around 450/yr on '03 TR20 with Merc 200 EFI

My ins. is with Allstate since 1987 and is $235 yr., has never increased and I've had 2 big claims including replacing entire lower unit from hitting a rock at Percy Priest years ago. 1985 procraft w/ 150 merc.

I used to have mine covered under my home owners policy by Farm Bureau. Then when I got an ice bag wrapped around the foot and blew it up they refused coverage. I had used them for over 10 yrs thinking I had the best coverage available, but it didn't turn out that way. My policy that I had plainly stated that it covered under water hazards, but their new version (that they failed to send me ) did not cover that. It also will not cover you if you are in a tourny or for hire.

I now have full coverage from State Farm, $100K liability, $20K replacement, $10k on riders and uninsured boaters coverage. for under $350 a year. It covers tournaments and guides or whatever. Lot better coverage from them and easy to work with.

I'm not bashing, just telling you what happened. Please make sure you are covered for what type of fishing you are going to be doing. and don't wait to find out after the fact.. Ask a lot of questions!!! It does get expensive when you are having to replace the motor out of your pocket.

i have mine with farm bureau 87 21ft allison with 200 johnson mine is about $175 a year. they covered my motor when it blew in tx earlier in the year.
