Can you answer something for me? I have wondered why the Z118 has the same boat length and width as the Z518 but the Z118 has a max HP of 150 while the Z518 with the same boat size has a max HP of 200? Why is that? Is it not pretty much the same boat? Size wise they are the same. emoScratch

I love that boat and the price is great for a Z but only 150 hp seems light for an 18 foot and 8 inch boat. emoConfused Jmax

It's all about marketing. Boat dealers and manufacturers have told customers to get the max HP on thier boats for so long that the prices have gotten too high.
This rig will run right at 60 with the 150 (near 70 with a 200) and do everything most fishermen need. By keeping the hp limit at 150 it is much more affordable.

So you can put a 200 HP on that boat even thou the Max rating is 150? I have been told that if you go above the Max HP that the insurance companies will not insure the boat. If you were to put a 200 on that boat, would it handle it, is it legal and could you still get insurance coverage?

No, if you want a 200 hp you need to step up to the 518. We never recommend exceeding the Coast Guard rating.
The hulls are virtually the same and the 118 would handle the 200 but it has been restricted in HP to keep it at a more marketable price range.
You could order a 518 without some of the bells and whistles (electronics mainly) to get the price down and still get a 200.
