There are two ramps at riverpark, one you have to go like your going to the dam, the other in the main park area. Both are as safe as anywhere really. If they are going to run LOTS of water, the lower ramp is easier to use, but bussier.
I seem to remember there's some ramp, that looks public, North of that golf course.... downstream and across the river from the riverpark ramp. Don't know the name of it though.
dupont rivermont ramp is the name of the one across from river park not much though, pretty steep and a nasty drop.not sure about the safety either someone else can chime in on that
Use the one at the main Riverpark entrance. Just get there early to avoid any traffic issues. If you are going on a weekday you will not have any issues at the ramp. Probably the best and safest ramp in the Chatt area.
Thanks Mr. Whiskers, I'm getting old and can't drive like I once could. I hate merging on 27 always have trouble getting over to get off on Main street exit.
With the heat and all the day boat traffic, I am also planning on doing some night fishing. Does anyone know if Racoon mtn. boat ramp is safe to leave your truck & trailer at night. I do most of my fishing in that area, but have never fished it after dark. Also, can you put in at Marion County Park before closing and leave your vehicle parked all night? Thanks for any info.
Raccoon Mtn. is probably the safest ramp on the river. It is well lit and has cameras all over the place. That said though there are people that still rob banks from time to time.
