I mainly use the front butt seat as a leaning post while fishing. On my Ranger, the hole that the pedestal fits into leads to the front livewell. On Sunday, I broke the plastic/rubber piece inside the livewell that holds the pedestal in the pedestal hole...a base I guess you'd call it. I have not been able to find a replacement piece like it. Would I be able to install a new metal base (round type with screws) on top of my deck? Would it compromise the integrity of the deck wood? Thanks for the info ....

Hey BassmanIU,

I have access to a machine shop and might be able to make a replacement part if I had the old part or dimensions. I got some scrap pieces of nylon laying around and it shouldn't be hard to make if it is just a bushing. PM me if you're interested.

You could do two things, get a friend with a lathe to make you a new insert from a piece of plastic or change out the base mount. You won't hurt the integrity of the deck by drilling more holes or adding the new mount. All of the decks that I have ever had any dealings with are very tough and you couldn't hurt them with dynomite. I added the pedistal mounts to my boat and the front deck had two layers of 3/4 inch plywood sandwitched together with fiberglass, you could put a tank on it and wouldn't hurt it. My 2 cents worth.

Thanks for the offer ChooChoo...but I think I'm just going to replace the base with a metal one. That seems like it would be the sturdiest. Thanks for the info fellas.

Better yet...just spoke with Ranger and they are sending me a "pedestal repair kit" for $6. I'll try that first and then move from there. Ranger's customer service has always been...emoThumbsup
