ok i have a question on how fast should a 1998 hydro sport (19 1/2 foot) bass boat with a 200 evinerude vindicator with a 4 blade renegade prop with what i think is a 25 pitch twist, run .heres what i have got< i run at 6000 rpms and with the gps is says im running at 60 mph, ive been told this boat and motor should run at least 67 to 69 mph at this rpm with a different prop. emoScratch

check out bassboatcentral.com owners setup, should give you and idea
go to owners gallery, then look under owners list.

You need to have that prop looked at

if it truly is a 25p you are running with 24% slip

normally a Bass boat will have a slip ratio in the 10% to 13% range

A 25p prop @ 6000rpm with 10% slip gives you 71 mph

13% slip is 69 mph

My bad, if you are pulling that now you will be lucky to hit 65 in warm water, tournament rigged.

i have no idea about the gear ratio but the prop does have 13 1/2 x 25 on the front of the prop were the nut holds it onto the motor, when it comes to the mecanhics on the motor im at a total lose but i know to get the top performance out of it i need to learn all i can so i can keep it in top shape and i figured it was running about 10 mph slower than it should, i had a 1/4 tank of gas and all my gear in the boat when i checked the speed with the gps which i just put on it about two weeks ago, so how do i figure out the gear ratio

churly 70 would be great for me and 65 would be better than the 60 i got out of it,but the water was choppy also

Check your prop to pad height. I think the starting point is 3.5 inches below pad. Like mentioned earlier bass boat central has a lot of good boat tuning tips.

check the height. start at 3.5". take your time and find the sweet spot. i have a hydra sports with no jack plate and mine is at 5.0" and it's to deep i new it was proably to deep when i got the rig, i need to raise it. just have to get around to it.

Stumpy,
I have a CMC 5.5 inch jack plate that would do good on that rig

I'd make you a good deal if you pick it up
