I have a friend that is looking at a 20' Stratos boat and trailer to buy. Problem is his garage is a little smaller than this. Question is, is there anyone out there that can take a solid stock trailer and make it a drop tongue trailer like some of the Stratos boats have from the factory to shorten the overall lenght so he can fit it in his garage?? I was thinking that there was a trailer builder on here that might could do this, but not sure. Any help appreciated....Thanks...Jim

you can buy a do it your self kit . very simple to add a folding - swinging tongue.I think cables sell them.

Putting in a drop tongue on that unit will be a nightware. Siderails have to be cut and the nose A Frame removed. Not to mention, they didnt go over very well with customers. I have one of the newer models they did in "06" where the mat'l was upgraded and havent yet had any issues...other year models were cracking and splitting.

Fulton make a kit which install very easy. 5 years ago I would have said stay away from them but since then they also have made a few changes to the product. Better casting and steel hardness. (I talked to thier Rep about a month ago at our shop on this)

Swing the tongue is what I'd do. Just make sure you put some bracing inside where the bolts go through for added support. Hit me up if you have any questions.

Thanks for the inormation. I'll pass it on to him. This kinda makes me concerned with the tongue on my trailer now....I had seen where there was a recall on some of them, but the guy at the shop I talked to did not know anything about it. I'll keep my eyes on it.
