A friend from Channel 9 news, had picture on FB, interviewing TWRA about a boating accident last night. I assume Chick. Said the two boys hit a wave. One was air-lifted, the other was drove to the hospital.

It happened up around Charleston.

Hiwassee River portion of Chickamauga. From what I understand (all second hand, I was not there), the boat was running down the Hiwassee to the Tennessee River. Around Price creek the Bullet they were driving hit a large wave from a wake boat. The boat was sent airborne and crashed into the water on it side. The driver of the boat was not seriously injured. The passenger was also ejected but apparently made some hard contact with the boat. He has several broken ribs, punctured lung, ruptured spleen. Currently in Trauma ICU at Erlanger.

They are brothers and the last name is Davis I think. One of them is in pretty bad shape.

Prayers out the them and their family. Stinking sun worshippers boats waves are ridiculous have of them you can't even see til its done too late.

Prayers to them and their families. emoAngel Dang pleasure boaters wake the heck out of us. Sometimes I think they intentionally wake fishermen. Freakin' idiots!

Yeah, I was at chick last weekend and my fishing partner and I hit one of those wakes from a ski boat and it sent the boat up in the air and almost sent some gear flying out. Those wakes can get pretty ridicolus!!

I dont think boats are made to run 75mph over waves sorry they have every right to be out there too trim down and just slow down and watch other boats I hate to be the devils advocate but I have alot friend with ski boats and i've been running bass boats for 30 years

You make a very valid point.

You shouldn't have to wear a helmet in a bass boat. I'm sure there are fancy bass getters that run well over 75 mph on the chick.

I'd have to say, in general those that own faster bass boats (say 60 plus mph) in reality the most potentially dangerous boats on the water. Boats-not personal water craft!
We all see stupid things done by boaters of all types, be at the speeds some of us reach-the outcome can easily be more drastic.
Boat wakes, logs and other obstacles are somethings that are almost always of concern.
In the news article Richard posted they said no charges were filed-who do you think would have been charged?
With total well wishes for their recovery-I'd have to call negligence on the fishermen.

I haven't had my boat over 45 mph in the last two months on Chickamauga. Its too rough to run any faster. Prayers for a speedy recovery for the injured person.
