With bow season closing in on us quick, I wanted to see if what you guys use.

Traditional, compound, or crossbow? And why.

Fixed or mechanical broadheads and what brand?

What are your goals for the archery season?

I shoot a compound, a bowtech. Ive never shot a crossbow and I am very confident in where my arrow will land with my current set up.

I use both styles. Last years doe was taken with a 100 grain grim reaper expandable. Got some exodus fixed I am anxious to shoot. I have always trusted fixed more but over the last few years I have taken 2 deer with expandables and they leave hug holes.

My goal every archery season is to get a doe on the ground, and the first fresh meat of the year. Takes the pressure off the rest of the season.

Interested to see about you guys.

I use a compound it is a parker wildfire I like them cause they are lighter and easy to move around in the tree I like fixed 4 blade muzzy my goal is to get 3 on the ground with bow or handgun not a horn hunter just looking for meat

Mathews Switchback here. Older bow but shoots as good as the day I got it. I have been shooting Rage for a few years now but I'm tired of them opening up on their own and having to keep an eye on them. Probably go to something else this year but I can't decide. They do leave a gaping hole! Anyone else have this problem with them and is there a fix?

High country 4 runner with 100gr wasp expandable kill a couple does get the pressure off an it seems to build more confidence after you get the first one on the ground then I will be ready to go to Ohio

Diamond "The Rock" because it's lightweight. Thunderheads (ol faithful) 100 grains and my broadhead of choice. I had a bad experience with Rage last year. Hoping to stick a few does for freezer and just enjoying being in the woods. Hopefully this will be a great season for everybody.

Rage has got some new ones out there and they will not open till they hit the deer can not think what they are call but that is what i am useing this year and i shot a mathews z 7 and love that bow

I shoot all three. I got a mission mxb360 crossbow that I shoot with gold tip bolts with grim reaper 2 inch white tail specials (mathews edition). For compound I shoot a mathews monster mr6 with gold tip hunter pros and yet again grim reaper 2 inch white tail special (mathews edition). For traditional I shoot a late 60's model bear recurve with gold tip traditionals with magnus bee stinger broadheads. I love all three set ups and hunt with all of them. Which one I use depends on where I'm hunting.

I'm chomping at the bit. I shoot a Bowtech Assassin and 100 grain Magnus Buzzcuts. They fly just like my field tips and have a lifetime warranty. Even if it is your fault, miss the target and mess up your broadhead you can send it to them and they'll replace it free of charge. My goal this year is like every other year. Put food on the table. If I happen to shoot something with big horns it is just a bonus.

I use a 10 inch buck knife and a climbing stand. My plan is to wait until the deer walks under me and just step off onto it's back from about 15 or so feet. At that point I will knife the buck in the lungs. So far I have not had the chance and it has not worked out, but I have not given it up yet either. ;) Jmax

Compound - PSE Bow Madness. 100 grain 3 blade muzzy's.
Goal during bow season is to get a doe on the ground. Didn't accomplish this goal last year, but looking to get back on track this year.

I have only bow hunted 2 days in the past 4-5 years. Parker Ultralight compound and a Parker crossbow...both fully rigged, rotting away in the bow cases. Sad aint it? This year may be different, I have enough stands that could work out well for bow now so I might blow the dust off and stick some.

O.K., for real I use a Horton Hunter Crossbow. Yea, I cheat now days and got away from the compounds. Mine has a dial up scope on it so you can dial in the distance and shoot it just like a gun if you know how far the deer is. I do not shoot more then 45 yards. I use Satellite four blade heads with carbon arrows. This set up has done me very well over the last few years. emoThumbsup Jmax

Shooting a new bow this year. I got an Elite Pulse set on 59 pounds with gold tip velocity arrows and some slick trick 100 gr magnums. I will be kicking off opening day at Yuchi this year. The first deer or turkey that walks by better watch out. Got to get this thing broke in
