I bought a bow last year with I intentions of getting back I to hunting. The bow needs a little TLC. Mainly needs to be re strung and just a good once over. Who has reputable knowledge of this kind of work here local and what should I expect to pay.

Thanks,

I've used a bunch of them with a bunch of different bows. I love Sportsman's but DO NOT let them work on your bow, they still owe me a new custom string after partially cutting it and trying to act like it was no big deal. Turks or Benton's are probably the best if you have to use someone. Personally I won't let anybody but me put my bow in a press anymore. About the only thing I let a shop do is cut my arrows down and Sportsman's has even screwed that up.

You should expect to pay between $60-80 for a new string. I would recommend a custom string maker like BuckNasty (my preference for a string) over any locally made strings. The local shops can put a string on pretty cheap but they are not masters of the string making craft by a long shot. They generally stretch and twist something awful.

In my humble opinion the best bow technicians are at Turks sport shop in Ooltewah. I am pretty sure that they use winners choice strings so if you want something different you might have to order them. Call Turks and ask for Matt or Terry.

Benton Shooters or Turks, both have given great service. Turks is a great shop and closer to chatt. My only problem with Benton Shooters is their great gun selection, I always spend too much money! :)
