Hey folks, I just bought a BPS Extreme rod and reel combo and just got to use it. Don't know who makes it, but been told by a few that is is junk. Well, I used it all day last week and I love it. Super smooth and cast a great distance. So far am very happy with it...

Vantoo,

I recently purchased a BPS Extreme FLippin' Pitchin' Stick and Reel.

I have been really happy with it, along with the other RODS I bought from BPS. Some of the reels I had problems with, but not this one.

These are good for people(ME!!!) that can't afford a $350 Daiwa or Shimano Combo for every outfit we have. I spent money on the rods I use more often... my crankbait rod, and my worm rod, both combos where about $200.

I got my Extreme combo for $99.... even if its a "piece of crap" then its worth it too me.... I still used an old shakespeare baitcaster and rod that I bought years ago for $35, and never failed me.

In my opinion its all a point of view, and if you are confident in a set up, then thats the best for you!

I have one of the new BPS Extreme reels with the 7.1:1 gears. I like it so far. Just couldn't see dropping $200 on one of the new Curados so I went the "cheap" route and so far have no regrets.

I'm with you on the Curados... I love the old model... I bought two of them before they were taken off the market for $99 a piece. They are excellent reels, but the new $199 price tag is unattractive to me :)

I THINK THE EXTREME "BUY 2 GET THE THIRD FOR FREE" IS THE BEST DEAL OUT THERE...AND EXCELLENT RODS TO BOOT...I DECIDED TO SPEND MORE THAN MY USUAL 60-80$ ON BAITCASTERS JUST TO SEE IF THERE REALLY IS A DIFFERENCE...I BOUGHT THE JOHNNY MORRIS COMBO (CENTRIFICAL DRAG) FOR ABOUT 60% OF REGULAR PRICE ON A YEAR END SALE....AND WITHIN HALF DOZEN CASTS WAS OUTDISTANCING MY OLD PRO QUALIFIERS AND VERY OLD AND RELIABLE DAIWA PS2-2B BY 30-50- FEET...I ORDERED ANOTHER JOHNNY MORRIS REEL AFTER MY PARTNER BOUGHT ONE THAT HAD THE CENTIFICAL AND MAGNETIC DRAG...I USE IT TO FLING THEM HATEFUL YET EFFECTIVE 3/8 CRANKBAITS FOR LONG DISTANCE PARALLELELELLING (?) THE BANK..FOR 150$ REEL...THEY`RE HARD TO BEAT....AFTER RESEARCHING A BUNCH AND MATCHING UP THE SPECS..I BELIEVE IT ALSO MADE BY PFLEUGER..A PRESIDENT OF SOMETHING.......I`M ALSO SURE THAT A 500$ SHIMANO DIGITAL AND 450$ G LOOMIS IS PROPORTIONATELY BETTER...BUT I HAVE PROPENSITY FOR DROPPING THINGS...COMBINATION OF CHRONIC CARPAL TUNNEL AND DUMB A%&

I have a way of; shutting car windows on them, stepping on them, sticking them into a ceiling fan, closing front door on them, and alot of other ways to break a fishing rod.emoBang

I have an Extreme rod and reel in both spinner and baitcaster. Love them. Great overall performance. I also like the pfluegers too and after reading this thread I see why I like them both - They are made by the same company.
To go along with the rod/reel baitcast combo I have an extra extreme rod (BPS had a buy one get one free sale) that my Pfluger reel is on (go figure). The rods are great in my opinion. Good feel and action. The reels cast great and fight pretty dang good as well.

As for hearing that they are 'junk' reels I heard that too when BPS first put them on the market. At the time they weren't that great nor that durable. They have it engineered now to the point that it is the first reel I go for on the lake.

I don't know how BPS does it but they have some of the best rods for the money out there. I have a couple of the Rick Clunn signature rods and they look and feel great. I have a 7 foot crankbait and 7 foot spinnerbait, which as it turns out are the exact same rod, they just say crank or spinner.

BPS GS series are good rods for the money ($19) on sale. i bought an old Frits crankin reel years ago and i can throw it about a mile but man its starting to scream pretty bad. I wont pay much over $100 for a reel. Its more about the man holding the tackle than the tackle!

Yall fellas may think i am crazy but whe i fisrt got into fishing again i went to BPS and bought a Bill Dance combo for $49.99. A few trips after that i bought another. They are suprisingly smooth and quite. I love them. For chrismas i got 2 Quantum Accutist 1 KVD series and i think the B.D. versions are just as good. I do plan on going to all the same model (Accurist) but i will have the B.D.'s for backups.

It sounds like to me you are in need of some BALLET LESSONS AND POISE TRAINING.... I think that will solve your problems....emoLaugh emoLaugh
