I know the Bass Pro Shop opening a new store in Chattanooga has been an off and on rumor for years.
So, now it's really happening and most people have seen the big sign and the location right off of I-75.
Is it me-or does that property look like it lays really low? I mean like lower than Shipp's RV's property that severely flooded a few years ago.
I hope they stock a lot of boats!

I thought the same thing as soon as I heard where it was going. It floods every year.
I would hope they did their homework or were atleast informed.

I heard they were going to haul many many loads of fill into that location. That's hearsay though.

That would be the best thing, but that would be a lot of fill-and they left a lot of trees.

When I saw it I too thought about flooding. If they fill it in where will all that displaced water go?

They are going to bring in a lot of fill dirt. According to a statement it will be engineered to not displace any more water than at the current level.

New style, gonna be on piering poles, concept to boat sales & storage. Also Duck Dynasty will have blinds in cammo in the swamp for the real feel before you buy. Gonna be interesting to say the least............ emoGeezer emoUSA

I have heard there's $1 million in dirt to be moved in to raise the place to get the pad on grade. Could've found a better place in my opinion.

Its funny how they started moving dirt and putting the BPS trailer by the freeway how the other rumored site for the Cabelas is moving dirt like crazy.Behing Costco. I've even seen them working some weekends. Having these two known power houses in that close of proximity, Sportsmans Warehouse will be having an awesome going out of business sale in the coming years. I don't like BPS's location due to the increased congestion, but these two stores will create a lot of great jobs for the community. Flooding no matter they do to the land will definitely be an issue.

It's Bass pro shops. You really think they didn't do any homework or planning before buying.

Probably as much as Shipp's RV look what happened to them in the last flood.

I think they learned their lesson after the BPS in Nashville flooded and won't make the same mistake again. I was up there working when it happened and they had boats that were floating down Briley Parkway.

Major fill will need to be added for the $25 million Bass Pro Shop project in East Ridge, but developers said it would not exacerbate nearby flooding, including at Camp Jordan Park.

"Hopefully, we will make the situation better," said commercial realtor John Healy.

He said the project will include water holding areas.

Mr. Healy said sources for the large amount of dirt needed on the 30-acre site have been identified.

He said there are no wetlands on the site and he has not seen any of it with water on it since the development group has had control. But he said the property needs to be raised so there is no possibility that it will incur flooding.

Thought that's what insurance is for? All of us should go supervise the building of the new bass pro, lord knows they didn't hire architects and engineers. I know you guys are just excited to watch the little man go under. I've been fine shopping online with them for twenty years. I'd like to see them build it in another city, like Atlanta. Jmo

Not at all!! Personally I (and I'm definately not alone) don't even know where you got that idea!? emoScratch
I'd love to see Soddy Tackle branch out to a couple more locations. Would really like to see Sullivan sell or lease to someone like them. All of us on the Nick side of town could use a good tackle shop.
Actually Wiggles- the start of this thread was about BPS "going under"-water-if you get the pun!
