Breaking in a motor after partial rebuild

I have a boat/motor that was inherited. Before my uncle died he had a partial rebuild completed. I believe it was one piston and the crankshaft as the boat had the old parts in it. It was never run after the rebuild... about six months ago. How would I break this motor in and what oil/gas mix should I use initially? The motor is mid 90's Johnson 70hp. I don't have the complete model number at this time. I also don't know who re-built it or I would call them. Any help would be great! Thanks.... Wayne

I would do the normal break in like you would for a complete rebuild. There are so many variations of break in. I will see if I have a OMC manual break in to list for you.

Here is a manual that will cover your engine (and many others). Go to page 6-28 in the manual (page 400 on the pdf page) and it will describe the break in. This is the same precedure as the factory manual has list for the most part. hope this helps!
