The TN Legislature has a streaming video system in place where you can watch and listen to meetings in progress. The Wildlife Subcommittee is about to convene and are scheduled to discuss the bill to remove the 34-inch "trophy" catfish regulation.

Go here: http://www.legislature.state.tn.us/house/committees/hsubsch.htm

Click on the camera beside "Wildlife". Requires Windows Media 9 or higher.

I don't have time to sit and watch right now... but if anybody else does, there ya go.

Thanks Richard for the link. It kept loosing connection with me and rebuffering. I did manage to hear enough of the debate to understand that the guy that introduced the bill is all about money, money, money. His basic attitude seemed to be that he could have cared less about conservation and fishery impact.

to quote from the Chattanoogan article:

"Mike Butler with the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, testified that his office has been inundated with calls and e-mails in support of the current regulation."

I would guess a good portion of those who "inundated" him was us!!!

Thanks again Richard for making us aware and allowing us an opportunity to voice our opinion and "inundate" the TWF and Rep. Richard Floyd (R). I think we all need to thank each Representative which supported our belief (all three Republicans)! Not to get anything started but it appears obvious who has our interest!emoThumbsup

They finally got the message (R), do what you should or lose your job (R). Seems a bunch of them (R) are getting the picture these days. emoIdea emoIdea

I couldn't agree with you more FLIP!!! But what is the excuse for those (D)? Have they forgotten what got them there or are their stances finally getting exposedemoPoke emoScratch

Hey Jason, same thing gos for them. Democrats are not the reason that the Republicans lost the Senate and the House. Democrats voted as usual, for Democrats. The reason the Republicans lost was 1) royal screw ups in the white house and 2) the Republican voters wanted rid of them.

Democrats will do the same, if the Reps. dont represent them, out they go too.

He must be loading up a good one for me, he hasnt refreshed in a while:( kinda wish I hadnt said anything.

I agree Karl .... completely! However I found it ironic that on the issue which is dear to our hearts "Fishing Regulations" that the parties were split right down the middle. 3(D) for the $$$ and commercial fishing / 3(R) for the outdoor enthusiasts. As for the White House...we all have our views and I know things could of been done better and have my concerns with some decisions which have been made and yes the people voted for change. Only time will tell what "changes" really were made. I just hope this Fishing Regulation isn't any indication as to what we have to look forward to with the (D) in control. With one more (D) voting today , it would appear we would of lost our Trophy Fishery.
