I've got a 96 Ranger with around 245K miles on it. About a year ago, the fuel gauge quit working but I overcame that by utilizing the odometer and tripometer. Each time I fill up, I just reset the trip and when I'm approaching 350 miles I fuel up again. Yesterday I noticed that the odometer stopped working. The speedometer, which I'm assuming is on the same fuse since there is not a seperate one listed for the odometer, works just fine. Any thoughts

I took some lunch time and researched our database for any issues with the odometer. No "known" problems or Technical Service Bulletins applied. After referring to the diagnostic flow charts, and without scanning it, the speedometer/odometer assembly has probably failed. It is serviced as an assembly and it's possible for one to work and not the other. If Ford wants too much you can probably pick up a used cluster assembly. They are not hard to install.

Hope this helps.

I forgot to mention there is a speedometer repair service in the Rossville/Ft Oglethorpe area. We haven't had reason to use him lately, but he may still be there. I think it's Martin's. I don't have a phone book for that area to look the number up. Might be worth a call.

Yes.. You must he sure that your truck is rolling when you look at the gauge.

Seriously... I would test ALL your fuses in the under dash fuse panel and the under the hood panel. A Ford dealer service tech may pull up the diagram and tell you where to look for the problem for both your non working gauges. Most will give you that free instruction.
