One of my fishing buddies Shane was hunting in Hamilton county this morning and around 7AM he shot at a beast but just barely missed him from 40 yards out of his tree stand, he said he was about to cry after it ran off. But just a little while later a doe came out of some thick brush nearby and sure enough that same buck came after her... Shane told me that buck was looking for him really hard but never found him and eventually the buck came within 14 FT of his tree stand. Shane got a perfect shot off with his bow and arrow. This buck turned out to be an 8 pointer and weighed in at 180lbs.

Shane told me this buck was the 7th biggest shot in Hamilton County, he is in disbelief!

The picture was taken off a cell phone, and I'll try to post it on here if it will let me...

Great buck. That event of the big bruiser giving you that second chance is one many things that deer do that keeps me loving it. My biggest bucks have walked up to me on the ground in plain site , turned broadside and allowed me to take them. Strange how that can happen when by nature the big bucks are so elusive.

Thats a beautiful buck, but I am confused. Is this the 7th biggest buck killed this year? There's no way an 8 pointer could be the 7th biggest of all time. We have seen 4 bucks in the last week killed here in Hamilton Co. that will score over 150" and one on Signal mountain that is green scoring close to 190". I'm just curious...either way a beautiful, mature 8 indeed!
