I just got a dpms panther AR rifle chambered in .308. Without considering the game I am after. What bullets( brand and weight) have you guys found to be most consistent? It has a 1:10 twist. I ripped through a box of 50 fmj 147 grain this weekend and those rounds are not legal for hunting. Ive had good luck with hornady superformance, but was wondering if any of you guys have any suggestions. Btw, this is my new pig gun. Even with the cheap ammo, this thing is accurate!

Overkill. All you need is a good double barrel shotgun. If you see a pig, just fire off a couple rounds in the air to scare it away.

I aim to fill the freezer! But I had a guy tell me that with a 1-10 twist I need a lighter bullet.

Any ideas?

Spur this one will do better than the double barrel if shot skyward. The muzzle brake on this thing makes it LOUD!

look at the federal premier trophy bonded tip and the copper trophy bonded tip shoot great and will flat out kill.they preform the same as accubond from winchester

I shoot the 155 gr amax and they are devasting on whitetails and I'm sure would be the same on pigs. I reload, but hornady offers the 155 gr amax match ammo and it is priced reasonable and would be worth a try to see if your rifle likes them.

thats what i've been told also about my ar (the less twist in barrel the lighter bullet to go with) but I have not seen much of a noticiable difference in my ar between different grain bullets other than the expected drop on heavier grains.

I am currently researching a setup for a suppressed 308. The gun I am looking at comes with 1:10 twist and I have read bullets under 200 grains should stabilize with that twist. A suppressed rifle and a handloaded subsonic ammo, heavy ball and light powder charge is what I am after. Any 308 round will do just fine... for pigs I would look for a projectile that doesn't splinter, a bonded round that will hold together after busting through that hide and bone. Try a couple rounds and test what you gun likes. Experience is always better than arm chair ballistics. I'm interested in hearing what results you come up with.
