Let me start by saying I have found a home lake. My son is 8, so he is not serious about bass fishing yet. We head to the lake around 7 am this morning. We used the ramp at Sandy Bottoms. There were only 4 trailers in the lot! Unreal for a Saturday. The water temp was 62-64 degrees. We caught about 10 bass. Probably only had 4 that would keep. All fish came from about 6' of water. Had to have the bait on the bottom to get bit. Shakey head was the deal. The odd thing is we got to fish everywhere we wanted to to fish. I could not believe it after fishing Chickamauga for the last 7 years. Today reminded me of fishing back in the 1980's. We took a break around 12 o'clock and ate lunch at Euchee Resort. One of the best burgers we have had in a long time. We just boat rode the until around 1:30. We headed home to mow the yard. It was one of the best days on the water I have had in years. On the way home Pudge said Dad that was fun. When can we do this again? Then he fell asleep. lol

I was there fishing with the middle guys and gals reminded me of how the chick. Use to be before Dayton started pushing all these weekly and week end tournaments it was nice not having so dummy coming in wide open and a cast away and start fishing.

I thought I saw you coming down the lake. It was nice to go back in time and enjoy the day with my boy.

Nothing like a father, son moment on the water. Or Grandfather grandson moment. As soon as I get a good GPS on the boat i am heading to Watts Bar.

Just an FYI.

CATCH is having a tournament out of Sandy Bottoms/Fooshie this Saturday, 5/8. We will have around 45 boats. It's our only daytime tournament up there this year.

Just my 2 cents but I wish the CFF would consider adding a tournament up there. It's not much further than Nickajack and some really good fish are starting to come from there.

In the very early days of the CFF events there were some CFF tournaments on Watts Bar. I fished some of them. I always liked that lake, very pretty and for sure not as crowded as Chickamauga. I have a very good memory of the only time in my life that I got into small mouths in the jumps was on the Bar. One morning my buddy and I saw the water surface just boiling with fish against a rock outcropping off a small island. We pulled over and started casting small sluggos in pearl white (remember them:)) and caught about 35 small mouths one right after the other. It was really cool and like I said the only time I have experienced that. Gosh that was probably 25 to 28 years ago, my how time does fly! I haven't been on Watts Bar is probably 7 or 8 years. I need to make it a point to get up there this summer.
