I need some advice on buying a burnt boat LOL thats right I said its burnt. I found a Triton TR20 that was a sheriff seizure. There is no title for the boat or the trailer (not sure what kind of headache that would be either) but the add said make an offer, parts boat or project. I'm not even sure if the thing can be repaired. I e-mailed the guy tonight and ask for more pics of the back where it is burnt. But what do you guys think, could it be fixed and what price do you think I should offer if any? Could be a deal or could be a lost cause money pitt, any ideas?

oh and there is no motor.

Trying to find a motor at a resonable price gonna be the worst part. I personally think you would be better off finding something complete in your price range.

I'm seriously thinking about making an offer on this. I'm not even really sure what to offer on it. I dont want to insult the guy so that he doesnt even respond to my emial but then again I dont want to offer more than I should either. I have no intention on getting it ready for the water this year I have my first baby girl due in less than a month so buying a whole set up right now is out of the question she probably wouldnt kill me or anything but I've never been so tight with my money as I am right now, I just keep adding up formula and diapers in my head every night. LOL I would really just like something I could work on a little at a time all winter and be set for next spring and not have to worry about a payment or draining my account.

why or how did the boat burn? If it was an electrical issue I would steer clear. What if you spend money and time and fix it up then hit the lake with it and it happens again. I think I would try to find something in decent shape for what you are able to spend. Just sounds like too many unknowns and alot of headaches to me.

It's only worth a couple hundred bucks. You will have as much as buying a nice hull only wen your done....good luck with it. I would sure get some better pics of this before you pull the trigger.

Yup wouldn't worry about insulting the guy its not worth that much, get some better pics of the damage.

Also try to find out the cause of the fire.

Good luck

Thanks guys, here is the e-mail I sent him this morning, I figure he can take it or leave it and either way I'm not out anything really if he lets it go for a couple hundred.............

I would be interested in making an offer on this boat. However I am curious as to what price you would be willing to let it go for. I have been shopping around for this boat complete with motor and all electronics and have found it from 11K to 14K but ready for the water of course. From just looking at the 3 pics and not knowing exactly what all damage is done to the boat from the fire and what all has been stripped from it like depth finders, motor, and jack plate it looks as though I will be spending close to that to get it water ready again. Not knowing what all it would in tel to get the title for it is another concern and not knowing how much damage there is to the fuel system, steering, and what caused the fire to begin with I cant really make you an educated offer. Flat out for the trailer and trolling motor alone are probably worth a few hundred used but not knowing what they are even makes that a ball park guess. It looks as though the trolling motor is a minn Kota and I really cant tell what the trailer is other than a single axle. I would be willing to offer at least a couple hundred but maybe more than that with some more info and pics of damage or if you just want rid of it I can come pick it up as soon as weekend after next. Again some more info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would call Nashville at the main office and ask about what it will take to register this boat. It may not be able to be registered. They call tell you more on if you are about to step into a nightmare! JMO....
