I had to go to Weiss today to do some work at my parent's place and decided that I would do some fishing before I got started with the work. I got on the water just after daylight. I launched near the mouth of Little River and decided to make the run to the Coosa River side near Riverside campgraound where I had caught some fish last year at about this time. The bas were there much thivker than they were last year at this time. I fished until about 11:30 and caught 12 bass with the biggest being 4.67lbs. My best five would have weighed just over 15lbs. I fished in 1-4ft. of water in the back of coves and creeks. The fish were locked on to stumps. You could throw at a piece of brush or a christmas tree and not get bit, but throw at a stump and get a bite. Most fish I caught were spawning, and I would have to get my bait hung on the stump and jiggle my handle a little and then whamo, it was on! emoFish The bait they seemed to prefer was a Strike King KVD perfect plastic (brush hawg) in green pumpkin color. The water was very stained, and it was tough to see the stumps, but when you found one and you were patient then you could get a fish. I do not know what the water temp was b/c my temp gauge was acting squirrely. The water level was between 1-1.5ft. below summer pool, and the wind was pretty calm, but I would get the occasional breeze from the northwest I believe. I enjoyed a changed of scenary. It was nice to be the minority out there. Most people were fishing for crappie, and I had most areas to myself. I might start fishing there a little more for the next couple of weeks. :emoticon:logo
