:) I should be getting my yearly bonus pretty soon and I'm thinking of upgrading my trolling motor. Right now I have a Motor GUide Pro Series 46lb thrust with a 42" shaft on a 19 Tracker aluminum boat. It seems to do real well as long as you fish calmer areas. Problem is the Chick isnt known for staying calm all day! emoBang It seems like in certain situations I find myself having to troll on the highest power to manage the boat in the wind. I just think 46 lbs is borderline to underpowered. I want to stay with Motor Guide because I find the thing is very reliable and the mounting process will be the same. Im a big fan of plug and play. I have looked at a couple different models and would like 70lbs or better and it can be 24V or 12 either way. I want to pay less than $1000. What are you guys' thoughts and suggestions. Keep in mind I've only ever had 1 boat so I cant compare to anything. Also who is the best Motor Guide distributor around here. Thanks alot! ;)

The FW75 Motorguide is a great trolling motor and will fit your needs.
The Tour Series come with variable speed and a better mount and will still fit your budget.

I would get a Tour 80 lbs if staying with M.G. There is not that much difference in money and that's the largest 24V. Then you never have to wonder what if?? Fish-N-Fun is where I would go. Tom and the guys are good and you have someone that will help you if ever a problem. JMO

I have a FW-FB 71 lb Motor Guide that I got from one of the members on here. It is a 12-24 and does fine on my boat. It is a 19 foot Ranger with a 200 HP. I would think that with your boat that would be all you would need since it would weigh less then mine. It would also fit your budget. If you really wanted to troll very fast you could go up on lbs but I find that not necessary. It has a 1 through 5 setting speed and I seldom use the five. I usually start on 3 and on long fishing trips go up to 4 once it starts to deplete the batteries. emoAngel Jmax

i would get a minnkota nothing else.

Nothing against Minn Kota but I would have to make new holes and stuff in the boat. My biggest reason to stay with a motor guide was so I could take mine off and just set the new one right in its place.

You should think about a Minn Kota i-pilot. I believe they also make a mounting bracket that matches up the holes to pretty much any trolling motor patttern. I will check to make sure.

beats wearing out the holes taking yours off to get it repaired.believe me there is a big difference in buying a trolling motor and buying a good trolling motor. emoBang
