As some of you know I broke a rod last weekend. It was a cabelas gold label rod and I was dissapointed because I didnt feel that I did anything wrong when the rod broke. I didn't expect much satisfaction as Cabela's doesn't have a warranty on their rods but I emailed them anyway and let them know how dissapointed I was that the rod broke. I had an email back on Sunday night that they would be sending me a new rod and it came in today. I am just really pleased with the way they stood behind their product and I thought yall should know.
 
hey cabelas is cool they stand behind product and if you look at there private label rods, they are fenwicks in disguise who have an excellant warranty good luck and good fishin!!!!!!!
 
Craig I am glad you got your rod replaced by Cabela's. I was not so fortunate with them. A few years back I bought a $400 pair of binoculars from them. 1-1/2 years after I bought them they fogged up on the inside. I talked to them and they said the binoculars only had a 1 year warranty and basically there was nothing they could do about it. I still buy from them but will not get anything that has their name on it other than clothing.
 
I bet there is a price point where they don't swap stuff out it also may have helped that I pointed out that I was a member of several fishing forums and about 18000 people would have the opportunity to see how my problem was handled.
 
Thats great!! I have found that emails work better than a phone call or anything else when it comes to these situations. I think people higher up the chain of command get the emails as where people paid minimum wage get the phone calls. Im sure mentioning the fishing forums helped out too!!
 
I have had good luck with Cabela's too. I while back I ordered two Cabelas line counter reels. After I took them out of the package one of the line counters would only work half the time, so I gave them a call. This was on a Thursday BTW. The lady was really nice on the phone and asked if I was planning to use them anytime soon. I said yes, that I was planning on using it Saturday! She said no problem and overnighted me a new one. Not bad service for a $50 reel. Oh, and the return shipping for the old one was of course included.
