I don't have enough experience to discuss the the finer points of fishing line like some of you old timers here. But I have had a pretty negative experience with this Cajun Red Line. I tried some 12 pound on an Abu Garcia bait caster and it really, and I mean REALLY, cut down on my casting distance. Even with a heavy lure on it seemed like it just died on the cast. Seems like it was a bit more prone to whiplash, too. And then it would be weakend when I picked out the birdsnest to the point that the line simply snapped TWICE at the reel when we were out Saturday. Luckily it occured in such a way that I didn't lose my bait, but after the second time I respooled with some old Trilene (same test) that I had on hand and ZOOM, it cast like a dream. And with no more whiplash problems. Probably twice as far than with the Cajun Red.
The selling point for the line is it's alleged invisibility. That may well be. I did catch some good fish using this over the past couple of weeks. But that doesn't nearly make up for the brittleness of the stuff.
In fairness I have to say that I used the same stuff on a spinning reel while pier fishing in Florida in March and didn't seem to have the same problems. It held up well. But all in all I'd have to advise against using it, especially with a baitcaster.
