Here are some pics from Captain Hazmat's blown engine. #3 cylinder came apart. The piston actually came apart and knocked a hole in the bottom of the cylinder which is #4 cylinders crankcase. He is very lucky that the piston stayed as intact as it did because if it had finished breaking, it would have done a lot more damage and possibly made the block no longer usable. The hole iscosmetic and nothing structual. The sleeve was crack and ports were damaged. It has egg shaped the actual block so I will have to install a oversized sleeve. This means I will have to bore the actual block to accept the oversized sleeve.

As long as we don't run into the piston shortage again!!! I have to put a 2.5 together tomorrow and had a very hard time finding pistons for it. Memorial day had a lot of boats break and all the supplier ran out of pistons!

OOOHHH !! THAT IS UGLY!

Can you figure a cause for it to break up like that.....I would assume a seizure started it ???? lean condition from ???

As soon as it let loose Mike shut it down. He probably prevented any further damage by his quick action. I called Wrechin2 for some advice immediately and we decided not to start it and to get a tow if we could. If we had started it and tried to get back to Sale Creek it would probably be really bad.

Before it blew it made a clattering sound and then let loose.

His quick shut down did save it! If you notice in picture 7, half of the wrist pin boss is missing. The other side is 1/2 way cracked. It it had came the rest of the way loose, The rod would have started punching holes in the block. emoEek emoEek

OK I hope it goes well. Mike man Im gonna PM you when I go to the lake. Cpt Hazmat was one of the guys that took me fishin when my boat was down...Maybe Im jinxed? I rode in his boat then it blows? I know James will take care of it rite...

Here is a picture of the boat that towed us back to Sale creek. I forgot mike snapped a cell phone picture of them. He emailed it to me a little while ago.

Anther late night......BUT here are some "sneak peeks" at what is going on.The pistons should be here this week so it will be ready by next Tuesday. NO WAY am I going tofight the crowdthis weekend!!!I have the 5 sleeves ported to 200 specs on the intake and exhaust ready to go back in. The new sleeve will be here this Tuesday and I will have to port it as well. The largest change was on the exhaust port. You can see the carbon ring around the outside of the exhaust port. Here are the 2 sleeves beside each other before and after the porting. The sleeve is out of a 2001 200HP both are "O" ring blocks. The only different is the shape of the exhaust chest. Your exhaust chestis the same as a 91-95 2.5 200 exhaust chest. A96-up the 2.5 200 went to the Pro Max exhaust (very open) and the 150 and 175 kept the "small" chest. The good thing is, the smaller chestwill help the enginemake some bottom end power from the back pressure it creates. There was a .150 raise in the exhaust port which is a pretty major change. Most engines I port there is only around a .050 change. One good thing is now you can add a 200HP EFI system to it and be able to get 200hpout of it.

Man, I seen the evidence myself tonight and it was UGLY! I guess sometimes it's good only to have a motor around 50 HP. cause when the Bigins blow it can get a little expensive... Ain't that right wrenchin? At least we had fun, just glad that I don't have to pay Booger's Bill!
