Liz and I fished an ABA Couples out of Grasshopper today. We ran downstream and into a grass covered pocket looking for schoolers. First fish of the morning was a short smallmouth a fun start. Worked around the pocket throwing several topwater choices. Just not much going on. Left there and travelled farther down to a long bluff. Stopped to try to catch a limit of spots. First fish I stuck headed straight for deep water pulling drag. I thought my day had just been made. When I finally saw it I just sank. It was a rather large blue cat. Fat, sassy, and pissed.

Earlier in the morning I had installed some waypoints. But with a malfunction they only were showing on land , not in water. Thought that the way point beacon had been changed so we started running a pattern that was producing fish. Started fishing concrete boat ramps and there were fish there. One boat ramp produced four keepers and two lost fish. One fish pulled back when I checked him on a Carolina rod. Then decide he was hooked and snapped the line. The other pulled Liz into a tree and just pulled off. Both fish would have culled a smaller version. Finished the day with 11.17 and a fifth place finish.

Nicw day on the water.
