Went to Douglas today and fished a ABA Couples tournament with my 16 year old niece. We put in at the ramp in Dandrige and when we arrived there were four tournament trying to put in on the same ramp. Great fun, just hurry up and wait. LOL Finally got in and we were off. Ran to Muddy Creek and at the first stop we should have had a limit in 30 minutes. Had two in the boat within 12 casts and then broke off a big fish and had two more just pull off. We stayed and kept working finally had 4 keepers in the boat by 10:30 and had to move. We just got tired of catching 16-18 inchsmallmouth and having to throw them back. We made a run down river stopping on a main channel point. We missed a few and then my niece connects with the limit fish and then sticks a really nice largemouth which put her in the running for Women's Big Fish(she did finish second). Today was her first day catching fish on a Carolina rig and the second time she has even tried to fish it. I had a big smile from ear to ear. emoSmile With all her hard work and effort we managed to win the tournament and I have a very happy girl who loves to fish.
