Went out in the rain this morning. Ran up river looking for some good top water. Found a flat adjacent to the main channel. Pulled in and started throwing, no takers, that is until I reached the edge. First fish, a five pound smallmouth jumped completely over my bait. Three casts later, a three pounder blows the bait up. Misses it. Two more casts, fish misses three times coming to the boat. Next cast, fish slurps bait, the fight is on. Get it right by the boat, good 27 or 28 inch largemouth, opens his mouth, bait comes out. Fished hard for the next hour, one crappie, one keeper largemouth, nothing else.

Decided to change gears, started throwing a jig. Missed six in about a half mile. Had a soft thump, set hook, fish tried his best to drag me out of the boat, came off. Just wasn't my day. Kathy, fished hard, but with all of the fish I was missing and spooking, just was not a good day.

Like those "lure scales". A missed emoFish is always least couple lbs better than in the boat. emoPoke emoPoke . Sounds exciting anyway...hope to have some tomorrow @ the Chick..... emoGeezer emoUSA

I have heard they broke the chick record with a non fla strain out west tn. I caught a 24 inch bass that was 8lbs. They do vary greatly though, mine was regular stature
