I had a day off and was able to spend some time fishing with my friend Michael Patterson. We met early Friday morning when the cold front was just moving into our area. The air temp was 40 degrees and we were forecast to have some partly cloudy skies. Did I mention that the wind was blowing. From the pre-front conditions the wind was howling for the first two hours, but we fished anyway. We threw a lot of different baits but were unable to connect on any fish. Finally I decided to try something a little different as the rain began to fall, but with the rain falling the wind completely laid down. I started throwing a shaky head and about half-way down the bank I caught a solid keeper, fished a small cove and then landed the best fish of the day, it wasn't huge but a really nice fish. I kept throwing the shaky head and at one point I had Michael down 12 fish to 1 but with only 3 keepers. We were fishing the lower end of the lake and never started the big motor. Despite the weather conditions, we wound up with over 20 fish, with 8 or so keepers. Not a great day on the water but at least we were fishing.
