CAROLINA KEEPER

If you're referring to the Carolina Keeper used on Carolina rigs, that's all I use. They work as advertised and anytime you can reduce the number of knots on a rig it's a plus. I've been using the red ones for 4-5 years now.

I like those pre-rigged deals that BPS sales. It has a sinker and beads already rigged together on a short wire, only two knots and you're good to go!

Pointer78, does the weight of the sinker eventually force the bead down the line as it drags over obstacles? Does the crimping action damage the line? I've actually had them in my hand a time or two and put them back...I assumed they were just another gimmick.

Jason, I've never had any line damage from these things. They're made from a very soft plastic so crimping the line is not a problem. I've never had one move down the line. And when you have only one knot tied to the hook instead of two more from a barrel swivel, there's no knot failure. I use 1/2 oz weights 90% of the time. If I go to a 3/4 or 1 oz weight, I just add another Keeper below the first one. These things are great. And if you need to adjust the leader, it takes 5 seconds to do so.

i have used them before and found that they do cause weak spots in the line especially with flourocarbon line. Also are very bad about causing line twists (or not alieviating line twist like the swivel does.) I have no problem with knot failure and it does not take that much extra time to tie a palomar knot. I like to use the ole tried and true over the carolina keeper.
