Got out today for 2 trips, this morning I done a live bait trip from 9am-1:30pm. Fishing was decent but not great by no means this morning..... We caught, 7 fish 6 spots and 1 hybrid (5lbs), the hybrid came close to 1:00. No big spots either, biggest was only around 2.5lbs. We freelined yellow tails around main lake points and humps to catch a few but most of our fish were caught downlining yellow tails in 20-25ft of water..... No striper this morning???

The second trip was w/ Terry Harden of Dalton, Terry and I had a blast catching some really nice spotted bass. We fished from 2:00-Dark and caught fish throughout the trip on a lot of different baits..... We started w/ T-Rigged Lizards and JigHead Worms around steep bluffs and quickly caught a small limit of spots. From there we fished jerkbaits, dropshots, and topwater the rest of the evening trying to target schooling fish, thats where we found the bigger fish. I got one of my BIG spots on the drop shot this evening, that was an absolute brawl LOL!

Some days just don't make much sense LOL, had good bait" this morning but couldn't hardly get bit and then dreading the rest of the evening wacked em' on artifical, and a little of everything to boot...??..... If I would have left after my first trip today I would have sworn the fish were not biting good at all.... Oh well thats fishing I guess.

Nice Fish !!

For a creature that just eats and spawns, fish sure can be finicky some days !

THOSE ARE GREAT LOOKING SPOTS. How long in the season does this bite last? Looks like we get to have two springs this year. Will this prolong the season you think?

Not speaking for LB, we buddy fish together and the good bite is yet to come on Carters. Typically may-early july are the best top bites in the evening and alot of times the day bite really goes down not due to the heat, but the amount of traffic(skiers, seadoos, etc.) on the lake..So try out the Mon-Wed nite tourneys at the dam for good action for a couple of months to come..

Tony is right, the bite hasn't even started yet. The water just got up to 60.8 yesterday evening on Carters. Give it another 5 degrees with stable weather to keep it there, and watch out it will be on fire! I do believe we're having a pro-longed "pre spring" bite this year w/ the cooler temps.

Fishing is crazy right now on Carters, you may catch 10 spots on 10 different baits any day. Good luck on the water to everyone. emoThumbsup

Bassman your on spring break right now aren't you, shouldn't you be out there w/ me now??? LOL. I love this time of year, not to hot, not to cold, and the fish bite consistently.

The KIDS are on spring break...everyone else still works ;)

I'm actually contracted out to MCHS. I do all the sports medicine for the athletics. We've had baseball games out the wazoo this week since they are out of class. Once baseball is done though, I'm gonna try and book a trip. I haven't fished Carters since I bought a boat. I'd rather learn about it first. Looking forward to it!

I don't if you planned it like that but the fill flash with the backlighting coming from the evening sky made for a very high quality photo. Great job on the picture and the fish.

We actually got lucky w/ that. I figured the Dam in the background w/ the sunset would be nice but I didn't know it would turn out that good, we truly have a beautiful lake and I'm blessed to get to enjoy it as much as I do.
