I caught this fish at Carters lake 10-14-06. I caught it on a drop shot rig w/ 6lb test. Wow! I was by myself but just happened to take my camera (So my wife and friends would believe me). That same day I caught 7 more but no size.

Now I want to see how you are going to top that first post. Way to go.
I have not been to Carters Lake in years. The several posts from there in the last few weeks with the hugh spots has got me wanting to go to Carters.emoUpsmile

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. Glad to be here. I really enjoy talking to other anglers about their experiences. I live about 20 minutes from carters so I try to get out on the water as much as possible.

I am still learning about fishing this type of lake. I've been fishing my whole life but I just started fishing big lakes so I still have a lot to learn. But, with the help of forums and experienced anglers like this it makes the transition much easier.

Thanks for the welcome and talk to you soon.

Great spot! Just started fishing and already got a pig on a drop-shot good job man..... The light line deal is second to only topwater for me, I love catching our spots on light tackle. When I'm fun fishing I like to go as low as 4lb test!

Do you live on the Chatsworth side or Ellijay???

Keep the posts coming.

Triton LB, I live just north of Jasper. I was born and raised there. Anyway, I have been fishing Carters this year alot. It is definately a tough lake to be consistent. I have been out there several times and not caught anything. But the past few weeks I have done pretty good. I had never tried the dropshot rig until the day I caught this fish. I went to Triton Mike's seminar a few weeks ago and he convinced me to give it a try. Well, now I am hooked (no pun intended)! I have seen the pig that you caught recently. Congratulations ! I have learned alot just by reading your reports on this and other forums. So, thanks and keep em' coming. See you around!

Fat Albert says "Hey".. nice fish and emoWelcome to the forum.... lots of nice folks here and some that will add to a story or two. LOL...I fished Carter when it was first impounded many years ago... had some really interesting trips down there... enjoy the forum along with us.... BTW. you live in a beautiful area...emoGeezer

I was also at T-Mike's seminar, it was very informative.... I think he's gonna have another one this spring.... If you stay with the drop-shot you'll stay consistent on atleast catching some fish on Carters.... I've been using it for a few years now, I haven't caught a lot of big fish on it but it will catch fish most of the time.... The only thing thats real consistent on Carters is EVERYBODY has more BAD days than GOOD so don't let it get you discouraged and enjoy the days you catch em. Good luck on the water.
