Well it was slow for some but for others it was a day they'll never forget. Saturday was the 11th annual "Fishing for a Cure" Multiple Sclerosis Benefit Tournament on Carters Lake. We had 38 boats fish the event, and as always Brad Peterson and Kenneth Patterson put on a great tournament.

I had two trips last week and Bill also fished two days so we put the time in and felt really good about what we had found going in. On my trips we caught 15 and 17lbs each day, mostly on jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, and a drop shot. Bill had a 20lb bag Friday on jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, and a crankbait fish or two. Saturday we just had one of those days you'd like to forget. We could only manage 9-10lbs for the day and only had 1 big fish on, and I lost it LOL. It was 4-5lbs and was on a jerkbait.

Here are the results from Saturday. BIG congratulations to Mark Lance and partner for the biggest 5 bass limit I remember ever weighed on Carters Lake. Great job Mark!

1st Place: Mark Lance and Jake Rymer with 23.48 all spots!!!

2nd Place: Bernard Watkins and Smitty Mooney w/ 21.91 and the big fish of the tournament w/ 6.19 Spot.

3rd Place: Lamar Ball and Earl Swinney w/ 19.45 all spots!!!

4th Place: Daniel Collins and Chris Ridley w/ 17.88 all spots

here are a few pictures of earlier in the week.

If anyone is interested in chasing the meanest bass that swims in the next few weeks w/ jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, cranks, all power fishing let me know. I've got days open

All I can say is wow...I thought Cpadget and I had a fairly good big as tough as it was, not to mention compete fro big fish with our 4.80lb spot. Wrong in all angles ! We had around 13lb, which was top 10 ( maybe) but our big fish got smoked by several 5lb spots, a 6lb spot and 6lb big head. Oh well had fun, and got to use LB's boat for the day, nice to actually have a nice up to date boat that runs great ! The tournament was ran great and gave away some outstanding gifts !!!

Great report Louie, sorry to hear you had a tough day but I'm sure you'll make that up with a vengence (hopefully not April 17th LOL). Those are some awesome weights especially with the spots. I know when I have fished with my brother on Lanier for spots, they are so much fun to catch, and mean, strong fish. Not really any comparison to the lethargic LM.... Look forward to seeing the pics of the 6+ lb spot....Thanks again for the report.
