Have any of you guys been to Carters recently? I used to fish it a bunch, but haven't been much at all the last two years. I was curious if any you have been recently after all the rain we gotten this winter. I've heard some crazy stories about the water levels over the last couple months. If anyone has gone recently and cares to share about the water conditions, and/or fishing as of late, please let me know! Thinking about a trip up tomorrow!

I went a couple of weeks ago and struggled as usual... I only managed three fish... couple got off. I think I was finally onto a little pattern though before I had to leave....

They seemed to be about 18 to 25' deep and super slow... had to pretty much let the bait just soak for a while. My partner appeared to have a magnum spot on a fly but... after several minutes of tug of war on light line... it escaped. Never saw it but it was dramatic for sure...

it has been taking16-20 pounds on the Saturday dogfights if you are going tomorrow there are 2 tournaments out of the dam ramp site and 1 out of doll mountain

Thanks for the replies, the water looked good everywhere I fished today. I got out there this morning and fished most of the day and honestly struggled more than I expected... Started off the day with a few quick fish on the fly and jig on the main lake, but that bite fizzled out as the day went on. Ended up boating a few more up the river around lunch time on a jig around timber, but didn't ever really get a consistent bite going. I got goose egged on the under spin bite, ouch... Picked up a couple more on the drop shot but was really disappointed with the overall quality of what I caught knowing what lives in Carters. Talked to another guy who was out today who didn't put a fish in the boat and watched a bunch of folks running and gunning, but never saw anyone land anything so I'm not sure if the problem today was the fish or the fisherman. I don't think my best 5 broke 9lbs today, so my hats off the boys pulling in 20lbs right not. Several of my better winter time areas were like ghost towns today so I guess I'm not up to speed with what's going on right now. Most of the bait I found was 60 plus feet deep, so with the wind we had today I struggled to stay on the bait for long periods of time. Always enjoy how beautiful that lake is but I was not happy with how I fished today! One thing is for sure, I won't be fishing any of the Carters tourneys for a while, lol.

fished a club tournament today something like 17,80 to win top 10 boats had between 14 -17 pounds

Maybe the front moving helped the bite today, or maybe I just stunk it up yesterday, but almost 18lbs is strong right now! I know that Carters can pump out 20lb bags in the winter months but the fish I found yesterday were just plain ol' lethargic. How did you end up doing in the tourney?
