Thanks for the replies, the water looked good everywhere I fished today. I got out there this morning and fished most of the day and honestly struggled more than I expected... Started off the day with a few quick fish on the fly and jig on the main lake, but that bite fizzled out as the day went on. Ended up boating a few more up the river around lunch time on a jig around timber, but didn't ever really get a consistent bite going. I got goose egged on the under spin bite, ouch... Picked up a couple more on the drop shot but was really disappointed with the overall quality of what I caught knowing what lives in Carters. Talked to another guy who was out today who didn't put a fish in the boat and watched a bunch of folks running and gunning, but never saw anyone land anything so I'm not sure if the problem today was the fish or the fisherman. I don't think my best 5 broke 9lbs today, so my hats off the boys pulling in 20lbs right not. Several of my better winter time areas were like ghost towns today so I guess I'm not up to speed with what's going on right now. Most of the bait I found was 60 plus feet deep, so with the wind we had today I struggled to stay on the bait for long periods of time. Always enjoy how beautiful that lake is but I was not happy with how I fished today! One thing is for sure, I won't be fishing any of the Carters tourneys for a while, lol.
