WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama has tapped legal scholar Cass Sunstein as his administration's regulatory czar, a Democratic source said Friday.

Sunstein at the 2007 Harvard Universtiy's "Facing Animals" conference......his speech starts at about 39:00...pay close attention around 49:25 where he says:

"We ought to ban hunting, I suggest, if there isn’t a purpose other than sport and fun. That should be against the law. It’s time now.”

Don't think it is something to worry about. A lot of economy is created from hunting and there is a good balance of hunting and controlling populations. Obama is no idiot, so I seriously doubt he would allow hunting to stop. He also said this to facing animals conference, not to the general public. I bet if you recorded all things I have said to various people, I would have to dig my foot out of my mouth continuously.

you're right, Tyler...that was only a small blurb. The rest of his speech is even more 'interesting'..check it out . I guess he likes the taste of his foot. ;)

The guy is an idiot with an opinion. I don't bother listening anymore to folks like him and there are many of them out there. My niece argued with me the other day about why I enjoyed dove hunting and fishing. Go figure.

I got into a discussion about a year back over a shirt I was wearing at a local Cracker Barrel. It was from a local sporting goods store and had the quote about there being a place for wildlife........next to the taters and beans. An old couple took exception to it. I politely listened and went on my way after telling them about how much money hunters and fishermen contribute to preserving the outdoors and protecting wildlife. I don't think they were bad folks, just misinformed. People that have never hunted or fished just can't understand why we like to do it. But then again I can't understand why someone would enjoy golf, but I have never been a golfer. Just differences of opinions based on what your life experience has been like. The odd thing was both of them were sitting there eating a nice steak and sure as heck didn't seem to be worried about the cow!

I DO support regulations that make people raise farm animals and food animals in humane conditions. When we raised pigs, chickens, and beef cattle, we did it in a way that allowed the animals to run free for the most part. I realize that can't always be the case but I've seen farms where pigs can't even turn around in the cages, calfs are raised in wooden boxes and chickens are raised in cages barely big enough to put a bowling ball in. Hunting is sure as heck a lot more humane, necessary, and responsible than that.

Unfortunately, his opinion is going to carry a lot of weight with his new job, just like Holder's opinion on guns is going to carry a lot of weight. Ignore them at your own, and our rights, risk.
