Oh weel, Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I got the green light from the Mrs Cast4bass to fish a little so by the time I walked the dogs and did a few chores I launched above the dam about 9:30 - The wind supposely was down but when I put the boat in there were white caps coming down the lake. So being by myself I thought I would run up to Booker T and try there. When I pulled in to Booker T there was a runabout anchored on the point where I wanted to fish so I throttled back to about 2 ft of water and started casting a flat bodied blue chrome shad hard bait. NADA! Did not see any shad or fish movement. WHAT IS GOING ON AT BOKKER T? Last year that place was full of shad and bass emoScratch I had some gift cards to BassPro so I ordered some rattleless squarebilled KVD crankbaits and had one tied to a tuned up Quantum that I had put new line on the night before. I picked up the crankbait thinking if I could bounce off some structure maybe a lone bass would be there to eat it. Well I forgot that I had loosened the line tension to free spool and when I whipped the lure into the wind the spool really worked great as my reel backlashed into the biggest birds nest I ever had!! emoBang emoBang Oh well, I felt like a big TURKEY so I had to abandon that reel and I pulled out another and re-tied the SB CB and cast it out a few times and on about the fourth cast the line separated at the spool emoBang Fortunately with cat like reflex I grab the line before it pulled through the eyes of the reel and hand lined the CB back. Number 2 rod out of commission. emoBang emoBang SO I say enough and throttle out to the point now that the anchored boat is gone and pick up the flat CB in blue crome and crank the point but just haul water. I try a jeckbait in a bluegill collor and again haul water. The temp is about 51 and the wind is still howling. I try the rocks and boat ramp thinkiing that maybe the sun is starting to heat up that water a little and maybe a bass is waiting for me there. Haul water again. I pull off the bank because I hear a spalsh behind me. I move into about 24 ft of water and mark some bait and what looks like pretty good arches uner neath. I pulll a rod out of the box and tie on a 2 oz spoon in chartruse. I jig but the wind is blowing me and it is hard to stay on the schools. I get a pretty good hit but even with the heavy spoon there is too much slack in the line and a swing a miss. I decide to try to get out of the wind and I moter to another main lake point. I dont see any fish anywhere on the flat or the point. As I pull off I notice some schools of something in 40+ feet of water. I drop the trolling motor and start jigging the big spoon. I immediately hook about a four inch shad and drop the spoon back with the shad attached and get a nice pull but dont hookup. Next drop I get a pretty channel cat and at least I am on the board. I proceed to catch white bass and the smallest yellow bass I think I have ever hooked - three in a row that are smaller than the jig. I hook a couple more whites about medium size not real big but fun. The school is small and it is wearing me out trying to stay on top of the whites so after a cruiser goes by (and their is plently of room to pass far away from me) and waves break over the bow I decide to move to a rocky point and throw a flat sided crank. First cast into the wind and another big birds next - AWW! I put the rod down and think okay I will just throw my jerkbait. Water temp is now 56 and I cast into the wind downstream and yank a couple times pause and yank and BAM - Nice hit and a big brown fish explodes skyward. Now leonard taught me to keep the net ready so I move to the back of the boat while drag is screaming and grab the net and move to the front deck. The fish jumps again and then sounds. I am praying he dont come off. I get him near the boat and can see there is one hook in his lower jaw so I loosen the drag a little more as he dives unter the boat. I get him out from under the boat and play him toward the net - a swing and a miss! emoBang He runs under the boat again and again I play him out but this time the net finds him as he swims towards the boat and I swing him into the boat relieved that I finally have a good fish - went 3+ on boga grip. Hook falls out and I snap a couple piictures and when I release him he goes skyward a couple times and then disappears. Well now its time to go eat some Turkey but I am glad my flat bait reel backlashed! emoLaugh Hope to get out today later. Tight lines!

Thats a great 'blow-by-blow' read,C4B,you have the patience of a deerhunter that has just had a shell misfire on a big buck. Paid off with a solid smallie...WTG!

Pretty Brownfish...

They do not like nets lol... Dad says they must think it is a big mouth coming at them lol... Makes sense.
