CATCH will be hosting a C.A.S.T for Kids event on July 16th at Dayton Boat Dock. Executive Director of C.A.S.T for Kids, FLW pro Jay Yelas, will be flying in for this event. This is a fishing derby for special needs children ages 5 - 17. We need boaters and dry land volunteers. C.A.S.T. provides insurance coverage so don't fret about that. A parent or guardian is required on the boat with the child. C.A.S.T. has never been in this area before. We need lots of pontoons as some will be in wheel chairs. All children will be capable of fishing. We are not taking them on a boat ride. There will be no weigh-in. I will add the agenda at the bottom, keeping in mind we are dealing with special needs children and the times will be flexible.

This event is limited to the first 40 children that register, but the website generates a waiting list. If you know of a special needs child between 5 - 17 please forward this info. Registration is live at www.castforkids.org. All kids get a t-shirt, tackle package and a plaque.

We need your caring heart and a couple of gallons of your gas. Please register at www.castforkids.org so we know you are coming. You can pm me and I will answer as best as I can any questions you may have.

We need you for the entire time if at all possible.

If you are a boater 7am - 1:30pm
If you are a dry land volunteer 9am - 1:30pm

7am - 8am boats launched
8am - 9am kids register and get paired with a boater
9am -11am fishing time and prepping for lunch
11:30am - 1:30pm lunch, special recognition and award ceremony

Launch at Dayton Boat Dock
Lunch etc at Point Park

Kevin this is John Boyd. I'm a friend of Jerry's and was at the take a soldier fishing tx. You may remember me I have the red and silver Nitro. I think I can bring my boat. Give me a call when you get a chance. 423-413-8355. If I don't answer leave a message and I will call you back. I might have some equipment running in the shop and not hear it ring.

Kevin, does the kind of fishing we do matter? (Strictly bass or anything we can catch?)

This one is tugging at me to offer my boat and help out.

Hey Kirk,

This is absolutely a fishing trip. Bass, catfish, bluegill or whatever wants to play. We will have some worms and crickets available. The kids will have a rod but feel free to bring your gear as well just in case the rods that we hand out malfunction or something. At an event like like we should expect the unexpected.

Kevin

Please help spread the word to families with special needs kids. They must register to be guaranteed a spot. They just can't show up the morning of the event and sign up. We are limited to 40 kids and there will be no exceptions. It must work this way.

We still need boaters desperately and there are some spots left for kids. Please tell family members of special needs children about this event.

Kevin, I shared the word on the B&B Bass Tournament page and over on Tndeer.com. Hopefully this will get you a few more boats.

Been away from my computer for a couple of days. Registration is slow for kids and boaters. Hoping to have around 25 kids when all said and done. Talking to Jay Yelas yesterday and he said that is the norm for the first year and then next year will be crazy. We have around a dozen so far and about that many boaters registered. I know what is going to happen though. Everything will happen next week and the rest of my hair will fall out or turn gray or both. emoGoofy emoGoofy LOL
