CATCH Ministry, Inc. of Cleveland, TN will be the host of the Bass Pro Shops Battle of Chickamauga Classic. This is a high school only tournament and it will be launching from the Dayton, TN Boat Dock on Lake Chickamauga on March 28, 2015. This is a BASS sanctioned event with teams fishing for the opportunity to qualify for the BASSMASTER High School National Championship. Bass Pro Shop is the flagship sponsor of this event. Fishing industry leader, Pure Fishing, has also come on board in a big way.

Bass Pro Shops is, among other things, providing a $500 Bass Pro Shop gift card and a $500 scholarship to the college of their choice to both members of the winning team. Pure Fishing will be providing the pre-tournament meal as well as goodie bags and door prizes. Pure Fishing is giving an Abu Garcia Revo 3 Beast reel to the lucky angler with the biggest fish of the day.

CATCH and FishDayton.com are going all out for this inaugural event. Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Ott Defoe of Knoxville, TN will be the keynote speaker at the pre-tournament dinner. Stage AVL of Cleveland, TN will setting up staging fit for rock stars. Novologic.com of Lawrenceville, GA will be providing video equipment and computer support services. They have approval from BASSMASTER magazine for a backdrop that will be used for a photo op that all the teams can pose in front of and have the appearance of being on the cover of the magazine.

Event organizers want the kids to feel like they have just fished in the BASSMASTER Classic. They are working out the details for this to be a televised event, but those details cannot be disclosed at this time. They are urging every fishing fan around to show up at weigh-in.

Online registrations are already underway and they have feedback from several high school organizations that leads them to believe this will be a 150+ boat tournament. This event can be followed at www.battleofchick.com.

So my understanding is saf membership is not accepted. The angler must be a BASS student angler member (along with membership dues) to participate. I am involved with Central High School Bass Club and trying to establish their team needs and schedule. Im new to all of this and we fished last year under saf/tbf memberships. Just need to know what i have to tell all the anglers/parents what to expect financially.

Thanks

Bryan,

I have copied this from the www.battleofchick.com registration page. Dennis Tumlin, of FishDayton.com/Rhea Co. Tourism Director, has made all the connections with BASS. The $30 registration is per boat and the $10 big fish is per boat.

Every registrant will enjoy a pre-tournament meal with Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Ott Defoe headlining the evening. Registration is $30 + an additional $10 for “Big Fish” cash prizes. 100% of all entry fees including “Big Fish” will be paid back to anglers.

As this is a Bassmaster High School sanctioned event, all registrants must be registered with Bassmaster HS. Cost per member is $20. This includes your B.A.S.S. and B.A.S.S. Nation membership. Visit Bassmaster High School Registration page for more information.

Thanks I have printed the battle of the chick information as well as the BASS. We are putting together the 2015 team for Central High School. We plan to send boats to your event and are looking forward to the activities planned.

This is going to be a great event. It is part of a 4 tournament series and the kids will have a chance to qualify for the B.A.S.S. High School Nationals at each event. The first will be the week before on Tims Ford at the Tracker Boating Center. First place at that event is 2 $500 scholarships and there are many prizes. We're working on an online registration for that event as well. The third tourney will be on Center Hill at Ragland Bottoms on April 25. The 4th tourney will be May 2 on Nickajack at Shellmound. The top 25 boats after the 4 tournaments will compete in a fish off on Guntersville hosted by South Pittsburg on May 30. More info will be posted at http://www.hsfishingforum.com/forum/forum.php as things develop. Entry fees for the other events will be $30 per boat and that includes big fish pot.

We hope to rearrange the schedule in 2016 where the Dayton event will be the first of the 4 tournaments to make it similar the Elites and the Classic are done each year.

Dennis Tumlin, Dayton, C.A.T.C.H. are going all out for the Dayton event. Many thanks to Dennis and this group for merging the event into the 4 tournament series to fit the rules B.A.S.S. set up for national qualifiers this year. I expect we're going to have a lot of fun and learn a lot this season.
