Cheez and I went out this morning for 1/2 day of catfishing. We found the cats very active early between 7:00-8:30. They slowed up quite a bit after that, although we did still manage to catch a few stragglers late.

Rsimms, we did the controlled chicken test that you wanted to hear about. I fished exclusively with the doctored chicken breasts (garlic salt added) and Cheez fished with un-doctored boneless, skinless, chicken thighs. I must say that the fish today preferred legs to breasts.emoDoh We kept a few of the fish for a church fry later in September. Cheez put 8 in the boat to my 2. I did get several "bites" and as my daddy used to say, 'the fish were biting today, but they weren't swallowing'.emoBigsmile

TT, I'm gonna bring a bag of these fillets for you tomorrow to the picnic. I'll get Cheez to autograph it for you as he caught most of the keepers. See everyone tomorrow!emoGeezer

Thanks for the report Drumking! I guess its fair....trading a bucket of chicken for a day of fun fishing and a fish fry. I'll have to try that chicken myself sometime. I have some shade packed in the back of my truck if you all need it tomorrow.

Thanks, David. We may take you up on that. I plan on arriving around 11:00. I think that TT said that we would be eating around 2:00. Cheez and I will be cooking the fish and depending on how many show up, we should be able to cook the fish in 30-45 minutes. Cheez is making hush puppies and bringing some fries as well.emoAngel

Another thing that I really liked about the chicken thighs is that they were fairly tough. They stayed on the hook well even with the squeekers nibbling on them. They were also about 30% cheaper than the breasts. I'll be adding this bait to my arsenal from now on.
I'm ready for the picnic. Got a big batch of hushpuppies made and all I gotta do is load up and make like lettuce and head.

Cheez
