Catfish bite?

I've been catching small cats in farm ponds, and I want to try to catch the big cats in the rivers, lakes, etc. I do not own a boat. So I am going to be bank fishing. I'm wondering if anyone knows what the catfish patterns are like this time of the year and where to find these monster cats from the bank

Fish just below the dams in the boils, use a brim or skipjack head and hang on, there are some big ones in there.

On the chick I fish from rock banks during April with hook and float setup. I'll put a wide gap hook with about 3 huge nightcrawlers in it and put the float about 4 foot above. I fish this only 5 to 10 feet from the bank. And yes brim will give you a headache but if you are on a good rock bank they won't be as bad. Catfish are looking for spawning grounds right now so it's not a bad time to start. It might be a little early in not sure.
