I am looking for a good spot in the Hixson area to catfish from on the bank or on a dock. I have tried several neighborhood ponds but they just keep kicking me out. I have also fished out of marinas but they just don't produce. I have thought about Chickamauga Creek but it seems like in the past when I have been there I end the day with nothing. Anyone know of any good spots where the people don't kick you out, or where you can just get some bites. I wish I had a boat to hit up the Dam, but I don't so I have to make do with what I have. emoAngler

Welcome to CFF.

I will be very happy to help you out there my friend.

This place is not exactly in Hixon but real close. You can go to the Hwy 58 side of the dam at the boat launch area above the dam and do pretty good. That area is very crowded on weekends so I would suggest week days, evenings or at night. The second dock to the right of the ramp is where you want to go. Not the dock by the ramp but rather the dock that extends out toward the channel to the harbor area. Take along some chairs and go out to the end of the dock and set up. Cast out across the inlet from the left corner of the dock approximately 50'. You will be in a deeper channel that leads to that bay area. Tons of catfish swim through there.

Please keep in mind that the dock is for boat loading so be cool about that. Move your rods around as you must for an occasional boat loading. Most boaters will use the dock at the ramp so the use at your dock should be minimal. You should be fishing on bottom so you should not have a problem with boats cutting your line. I know this may seem like too much of a hassel in that area but I can assure you that the fish you will catch will make the trip well worth it.

SpurHunter - 6/5/2008 10:19 PM LL, your talking about where the marina is correct?

Yes - But NOT in the marina area. The marina area has no fishing signs. The area I am speeking of is in the mouth of the inlet to the marina. It is also right in the parking area. Very easy access.

I use to catch cats over on the other side of the lake where the barges tie up. I would sit right where the rip rap starts and cast strait out as far as i could. you will be fishing on bottom also.

Went there the other day and just got one hit on the line. I'm sure it produces, I just didn't have much luck though. I might go back with some different bait and see what I can do. Thanks for the tip though.
