Had the pleasure in taking baitbucket and a couple of his friends out last night catfishing. We caught 6 fish with the largest being 16.9 lbs. ( never could get the big ones to bite ) One thing I can say is, these three guys had a great time. Both of baitbucket's friends caught their biggest fish ever. We started fishing at 7:30 pm and fished until 11:45 pm using fresh skipjack and fresh chicken breast. ( we caught three fish on each ) largest one on skipjack. rsimms, you were right on it. We caught all six of these fish right before dark. After dark, they shut down and we didn't get another bite up til 11:45 when we left. ( he said that they would stop bitting at dark )
This was a very enjoyable trip for me, I didn't fish, I played guide and help them in any way that I could. The best part of this trip was sitting back and watching them laugh and having a good time.
Guys, don't miss out on a trip like this, my son is 30 now, but they don't have to be kids to enjoy them. Call up your son or father and take them fishing.emoBigsmile

Sometimes I hate being right. emoDoh But no matter if a good time was had by all. Good write-up... thanks for sharing.

Here's a few pics of the adventure Friday. We didn't put a ton of weight in the boat, but good times were had by all. The first pic is of my buddy Booger with a 16.5 blue, the biggest of the night. The second two are of my buddy Junk, who drove in from Murfreesboro, with Fishing Machine and a 14-pounder.

Hooker couldn't make the trip. I think he was hosting a Pampered Chef party. He said something about needing a new pizza stone, whatever that means.

Sweet! That one fish has got a serious fresh lamprey wound. Just FYI, if you ever actually get a lamprey in the boat, and can hold on to him... put that sucker on a hook and fish him!!!!

Really?? I always get ticked off at them and kill them. I've only caught about 5 bass that had them on them, disgusting buggers.

Do those lamprey things get on people too? Are they blood suckers?

I have NEVER heard of one getting on a person... it takes them a while to "attach." Yes, they are basically leeching body fluids from whatever they attach to. Frequently get knocked off or release and will leave a distinctive, circular wound or scar. But they're very uncommon around here. I don't see those wounds or scars very often and in my memory, have only captured a fish that had one attached twice in several decades of fishing.
