A friend of mine killed a 12pt buck in Catoosa County. Scored at 165. Very nice deer for North Georgia. A nice one anywhere for that matter.

I'm like missouri; SHOW ME!!!

I'd like to see pics of a 165" deer no matter where its from, considering its from a county I lived in for 10 years, I'd really like to see it.

It was killed right outside the Catoosa County Zoo. You know where I am talking about. LOL. It was a monster that is for sure. I will see if I can get a pic on here somehow. Crod

one was killed by a contractor last year in catoosa county that easily was in the 150 to 160 range. saw pictures of it, and it was a monster!

I saw pics of a 12 pointer killed off post oak rd. today after reading this thread. That was probably the one. It was a nice OLD buck!

Crod,

Rumor is that your buddy spotlighted this deer in the Battlefield. The deer was 164" 12 point; a catoosa record. The game warden's gave the man a polygraph before submitting the record. He failed with flying colors and the state took posession of the deer. Thats the story I was just told by a Catoosa Native that knows the hunter.

POACHERS- BEWARE! We do not appreciate you! We do not condone any of your actions, wheather its Karma or whatever-you will pay for your bad deeds!

I love hearing about poachers getting busted because I bust my butt to kill big deer in a leagal manner, its just more fun that way and the harvest so rewarding. Sound s like this red neck had what was due to him.

I live less than a mile from the "Zoo" and I saw two different bucks this summer that I guessed were pushing 150". I ride through there about 3 times a week with the wife just to go look. I wonder if one of these 2 I saw could have been this monster....?

But I thought the 2 I saw were both 10s. One with a split G2 on the left side making it an 11. Guess that coulda been him

Why is it every time someone kills a good deer that it was shot at night or poached in some kind of way. I dont have any idea of how who or what time deer was killed.but if you do not know first hand .You should say congradilation and good deer.

I agree Ricky. Who cares where the buck was shot, that is one hell of a deer. Rumors get spread all the time, if you dont know for a fact this buck was poached then keep your mouths shut!

I know for a fact that a 12 pointer was shot that scored in the 160's, it was spotlighted and the game wardens are on it-know for a fact! Maybe a coincidince, but I doubt 2 160" deer were killed in Catoosa Co. in the same week. Poachers suck!

I havent talked to my friend in a year or so. I hope you have gotten some misinformation. If it wasnt killed legally, the record should not stand. I do know for a fact he had permission to hunt on some very good property last season. Like I said, I havent talked to him in quite awhile and sure hope this is not true. You should never get into trouble over things you can control. A mutual friend sent me the pic with information on the kill. Sure was a grown one thats for sure. Like you, I dont condone poachers. If a big old boy goes down, it should be done during daylight hours in a sporting manner. Crod

A game warden stopped by my shop this week. The subject came up about a huge deer killed in catoosa co. He said he had seen the rack but didn't mention anything about it being illegal. He said it was killed on private property on the edge of the battle field.

I hope thats the correct story Michael! I would hate to see a beast like that taken illegally. If it was done legally and ethically, then thats AWESOME!! Looks like I may have to start hunting off my back deck.....

I hope the buck Justin is talking about is just a mere coincedence, and this deer was, in fact, taken ethically on private property

Talked to the proud hunter of the new Catoosa County Record. It was taken legally on private land. It is being mounted right now. I wll be going to see it Monday. It is huge. Churly, you got some bad information somewhere. I am glad I was able to clear this up on the forum.

Just for future record you do not have to take a polgraph to have a deer scored. You set up a time and place with any DNR they will score and submit.
