Got drawed for early December hunt at Catoosa, and don't know a whole lot about it...Any of you guys have any advice? Any help given is greatly appreciated!!

I got that hunt as well. You need to go scout. Although I know the area, its the mountains and things are so different every year that you need to scout. Just try to get off the beaten path. Maps are available at the check in station. I've hunted everything from food plots to hardwoods to laurel thickets. Its got it all.

Yes, I have scouted the area somewhat briefly, but the area is just so dang big! I am gonna continue scouting and try to narrow down a promising area, and am really looking forward to the hunt. I imagine the food plots and clear-cuts get beat pretty good...

Check out the deep woods in the PEAVINE area. every year there is a stud or two hauled out of there.

That is the area that we planned on camping at, and we also did some scouting there. We went and looked at the Savannah area as well...

Thanks for the advice dude!

The savannah gets hunted pretty hard early. Some of the hardwood ridges within a mile may be a better choice. Those late hunts have the deer driven into thicker cover.Look for areas that are hard to access.Daddy's creek gorge has some hot spots late in the year.
