Hey guys I have been a reader and a lurker for some time now. First I would like to thank everyone for all the tips and tricks on the water. Unfortunatly I dont have a boat to apply most of them. I see all the pictures of these monster fish and I cant help but wonder what I am doing wrong. I have been bank fishing all my life and I havent seen anything over 20-25 lbs come out of these waters. I am attaching a pic of the biggest Cat I have caught in the last 10 years. Any tips?????

The best tip I can give to catch big fish is use big baits, especially skipjack. Use i/4, 1/2, 3/4, or the whole fish, use large circle hooks, no setting the hook, just start reeling. If bank fishing try to find some deep holes.</p>

If I were you I would buy a small aluminum boat or a kayak or even a canoe. There are many places that are accessable to these small boats. If you cannot get a boat I would try to fish near creek channels mostly but the river channel in some areas is accessable. Fish on the bottom with skipjack herring cutbait that you can catch below the dam. Most of the bridges over the creeks have easily accessable channels. About a year ago a little kid in the area caught a big blue cat from the bank, I think that it was over 100lbs. I think that it was somewhere in Soddy, big fish are available to the bank fisherman. Let us know if you hang a big one.

PS, I hope that your pitching goes well this year Tim.
