I want to talk about our (few CFF members) involvement with the Chattanooga Christian School annual fishing classes. Last year, Polo-dog, TR20BH, Jeremy, and myself helped with this project for the school. It involved 1/2 day at the school talking fishing and knot tying, showing how to read maps, electronics, fishing tips and other things. Then two 1/2 days of taking the students out for a little fishing experience.
This year, TR20BH (Ben Hayes), Hal (Hal Perry) Wolftever Kid (Brian Howard), Catfish1 (Jim Edmister) and me (Drumking) are involved. Matt Monahan is the teacher who will also provide a boat and will take a couple of students fishing. We have 12 students that are going to fish with us this year. We had our 1/2 day at the school today, then lunch at Blue Water and on to the Aquarium for about an hour or so of looking at the different species of fish that we have in our local waters. We answered questions as best we could and are really looking forward tomorrow and Friday to taking these kids fishing for 1/2 day.
I have said all that to say this. Matt told me a little while ago that because of the success that we had last year, there was so much interest this year that they actually had more students who wanted to fish than we could take care of because we didn't have enough guys to provide boats, they had to limit the students to 12. (2 per boat).
Next year they would like to take more students if we can get enough guys interested in helping us with the kids. If you are interested and are willing to take a couple of Jr and Sr students fishing and be involved in the teaching, fishing etc., then please pm me and I will compile a list. It would be great if we had enough teachers to take all the kids who want to participate next year. It isn't a hard thing to do and all the input that we can get into the next generation of fishermen, the better for all of us. You will be blessed.
I want to thank Jimmy Manis for filling in for Ben tomorrow.
Thanks, guys.
