After 7-8 fairly happy years with Verizon, they have decided for me that it is time to move on to something more suited for my usage. With their new Share Everything plan my bill will jump from $55 to minimum $90 plus taxes and fees. I have the 450 min Nationwide plan($40) with 150MB ($15)Data planand has been more than enough 95% of the time. I went over the Data once when I was in theVegas area for 10 days and once while watching a UT game some at work. Since I`m grandfathered on the plans I can stay at the $55 price until I decide to use my New Every Two Program. Since they`ve discontinued the program that started at $200...was reduced to a $100 and now only worth $30 discount, plus a $32 dollar fee to Uprgrade from one Smart phone to another, for a net loss of $2 plus having to sign up for 2 more years. After much argument with Customer Service over unauthorized bump to a 2GB Plan ,failed promises and basically being lied to, they have provided me with the last nail in their coffin.

Most of the majors are changing their plans similar to Verizon. While it may be a good thing for Families and people that play with their phones 8 hours a day, they have priced theirselves out of the Individulal Smartphone user.

I`m looking to just keep my Droid X and get into some kind of No Contract Plan. There seems to be quite a few out there that I might be willing to try. My Phone is Android and I can`t see any reason to change to Apple for my limited usage. I`m sure they are nice but just can`t justify the cost.

I sure we have a variety of plans being used by CFFers so any info/advice you could give me would be appreciated. My contract with Verizon is up in November so I have little time ot look around. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks Spur...unless Andrew just changed to that in the last few weeks...it`s probably different now. AT&T changed their plan about 2 weeks after Verizon announced their new scheme.
I`ve looked at so much stuff lately, I`d have to go back and look again. Best I remember AT&T were about $5 cheaper.

I'm like Snuffy, not a power user (well, not a user at all), but would like to have the occasional convenience of data. I'm glad you brought it up again. Any suggestions for limited phone use and data, let us know please.

Look into Straight Talk. $45 a month. Unlimited everything. And the coverage is pretty good. It also has 3G.

I've been on Straight Talk for a few months. My cheapo phone uses Verizon towers and the wife's Iphone uses ATT towers. Best deal out there!

Is your phone a Verizon phone? Is so I dont think you can move it to another carrier. Go on Ebay and buy a refurb phone and take to where you like.

I bought thru Verizon but my contract is up in November......I would think i could use anywhwere after that time. Even if I have reset to factory defaults. I like the phone.....wanted the Samsung Galaxy sIII but won`t sign another contract with Verizon.
I looked at the Straight Talk Plan ...kind of in line with what I`m wanting but their coverage map for Android was not near as good as the other one they were showing,Apple maybe . I can`t remember .I really don`t see how that is relevant but......

I've been with straight talk for over a year now and I love it --- $45 a month for everything no nickle and dime stuff. My sister also uses straight talk with a smart phone and my mom also with a different sim card. However, you cannot use verizon phones with anyone else but verizon. They use a different technolgy. You can use other carrieers phones by replaceing the sim card. You can buy sim cards on straight talks web site for ATT and other phones. As long as your phone has a sim card in it you can probably get a sim card that would work with straight talk. Talk as much as you want, send as many text as you want, and get on the internet as much as you want and its still $45 a month plus tax, mine comes out to $ 49 and some change. I really can't see why people pay their prices. My phone uses verizon towers and my sister, mom, and my sons smart phones use ATT towers and none of us have ever had a problem with them or had to complain about our bill. Just buy a new card at walmart every month or pay online. Simple

thanks 911....that`s the price tag I`m looking for!! I dug into the contract a little more and it says if you are a postpay account and your phone doesn`t have a Sim card that it can be reprogrammed ...even gave the numbers.....but that might still not work with other carriers. Anybody know if a Droid X has a Sim Card ??

... call "Moses" Malone. He knows more about cell phones than anyone that I know. He just called me and said that they make great structure on the bottom off the river and if you call them while submerged, they are great fish attractors depending on your ring tone. I don't know I'm relaying what he said!

Eric it looks like one of the better plans. I don`t think my Verizon phone will work , even if I can unlock it, because it is a CDMA phone.
Pipefitter I pretty sure you can take your number just about anywhere anaymore.
I`m still trying to figure out if my Droid X has a Sim card.
Spur ,what is the process to hack a phone ...who can do it ??

Hacking is way above me, but if you search ebay or Craigslist, you will see phones advertised for "any" network, or "unlocked", those will work on most any network as they have been "hacked".

You can "port" or take your current phone number with you to any provider now, its been that way for 6-8 years now.

The only drawback to Straight Talk is customer service reps in India will be answering the phone. They are helpful but sometimes hard to understand. I have had no problems. You can take your number over your previous carrier. If you get the Verizon phone, you will get the exact coverage you did before on Verizon. That applies to the ATT, and Sprint phones as well. Be careful and know which phone is on which towers before you buy.

After further review.....Straight Talk will not work with CDMA phones....which my Droid X purchased thru Verizon is CDMA.

Still lookin for another way to go !!
