I previously posted regarding changing the ramp location for this event. There was discussion and suggestions, but no finaldecision. Since then, the guys that run the Catch "Relay for life" contacted a couple of us regarding joining them or re-scheduling to help them draw a good crowd. I talked with Mark Wells (Cowsrfunny) and he made it clear they didn't want to put us out or impact our turnout, but rather combine our efforts somehow to support the cause (Cancer Society). I must admit that I am a softy and told him I would discuss the opportunity with the committee and see if there was some way to blend the two tx's as the result might make a difference in someones life. Since then, my personal plans have changed and I may not (probably won't) be here to participate. I have been wrestling with thisfor sometime now, so I'm throwing it back out there for you guys to decide. The easy answer would be to leave it as is or we could come out of HBSP with our own seperate sign-up and weigh-in. This would let our guys purchase their breakfast items and so forth, or make donations for the cause, and this would make the Catch guys happy. Would everyone please respond with solid thoughts and ideas so we can make a swift and final decision. I apologize if I have caused any confusion or un-necessary concerns for the committee. Thanks, Al

This is something we need to address because I know that: Al, Adam, Rob, and myself will NOT be at this tournament. Will we have anyone to run it?

I wish I could be here for it, and I would really like to see us somehow combine it with the Cure Tx just for sentimental reasons and I feel it really is a great cause. Maybe since the committee will be short handed, it may not be a bad idea to somehow combine the two into one Tx

I dont have the time to think about all that...LOL. I just want to have the CFF on that day and be done. If something else is worked out, cool. Thank God, Im busy as hell at work.

Thanks

How would a 'combined' tournament work? Would we just send everyone to the Catch guys to sign up, let the catch guys run it, help where we're needed... then get the results from them to add to the CFF point totals? We have signed releases for protection, do they do the same?

Thx,
Randy

Have the same blast off times and weighin times. Let them pay for each tournament's cost. They hold thier payout, we hold ours seperate.

Once again, I have no idea if I will be able to fish the T. If I'm not working, I'll fish it. So I cannot commit to being of any help. Sounds like the combined effort would be a good thing though.

What do you mean, "let them pay for each tx cost"? Help me.

Yea, what ever thier entry is, the angler pays that and if they want to fish ours at the same time...they pay ours also.

Hey fellas, 50% of the entry fees are going to the cause. This is a great cause, but I dont think combining these 2 is going to work. We have rules, payout schedules etc. We are committed to these things.

Al, how was youthinking to do this? Please splain yo self, I'm a dummy.

I don't have a great plan...that's why I been wrestling with it. It just about has to be two seperate tx'x out of the same ramp. Seperate sign-in, seperate blast off, seperate weigh-in (thirty minutes earlier than theirs), and seperate payout. Give the anglers a choice of fishing one or the other or both, if they pay two entrys. Their entry fee is $50...I bet you will have some that will fish both. Let's kick it around some more. BTW, everyone on the committee should chime in here whether you are going to fish it or not.

Strike the idea of two weigh-ins...some fish from one weigh-in might make it to the second weigh-in as well ( in a different bag). But they could do the weigh-in for both and declare which tx each specific bag is being weighrd for.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Mark Wells and we can make this work. We have a seperate sign-in for our tx, we cut the bag limit to three fish, and fish their times (6:30 - 2:00). Cleveland Bassmasters will handle the weigh-in ,on certified scales and we only have to have someone present to record our weights and handle the payout. The anglers will have a choice of which tx to fish and can pay both entries and fish both. This should help us, since we are going to be short on committee members. What cha'll thank?

I'm hoping to be there (unless work pulls me away)... who else will be there? That plan sounds workable.

flip1up - 5/8/2009 12:54 PM Soundsgood. So, the only thing changing as far as our CFF trail is the 3 fish limit, right.

Yeah, Karl...that's about it. We do need to work something out regarding blast off as for as CFF only anglers. Catch is having pre-registration at Hamilton's and Smokey Mtn Tackle, where you draw boat numbers for blast off position. Anyone that enters both tx will enter and draw a # with Catch. My suggestion to Mark was to blast the CFFer's first and then start their (Catch)number sequence. More questions???
