Whewwww, what a day, where do I start.......Today was the day of the much waited for Cold Cat Classic; we were met with overcast skies and a stiff breeze this morning. In total we had 10 CFF'ers show up for what seemed like the hardest 5 hours of fishing I can remember. It seemed as though the big cats had lock jaw, no matter where you tried it was almost in vain. Team TOO TALL, and CRAZYHORSE took first prize with the biggest fish with a weight of 35lbs?. StoneRoller and myself where able to squeak out 2nd place with only 11lb4 oz. Team KOZ/WLG came in a close 3rd with a 7 lber. If I didn't say it was tough already then I'll say it again, "IT WAS TOUGH".
Here's my report. Hopefully the others will follow suit:
We started out drifting the old channel ledge in about 90-100ft of water with no bites at all. We then traveled up stream and anchored in a bottleneck in the river, which concentrated the minuet current that we did have. There we picked up the 11lber, and then shortly afterwards a 4lb flat head (on cut bait no less). At about 11:30 we had a run
on one of our reels and fought a big fish for about 15 seconds never gaining any line until the big brute ran under a rock and hung us up. Eventually were we able to recover our rig but the fish was long gone.
Sorry guys, not too much to report.
