My brother Michael and I blasted off and went immediately to the small lake on the other side of the small bridge (between the interstate and green bridge). Apparently several other folks had similar plans as we weren't alone. We were chucking BB's and a spook with nothing. We fished all down one side (rip rap) til we came to some weeds and started seeing some fish really feeding. We didn't have a bite for the 1st 1/2 hour then we got a double. Mine kept and Michaels was a dink........and his only fish of the day.:( . I caught about 11 more in the next hour, all on a 1/2 oz Cutthroat SB that was white with a large silver willow and gold colorado blade. I also had a trailer hook on. All of the fish came from the weeds. I would start reeling as soon as the bait hit the water and wake it back to the boat. The hits were really strong too. I caught a total of 4 keepers, about 5 14 inchers and a few others. I did manage to lose a good fish that probably would have won it for us. Oh yeah, water depth was anywhere from 3-9 feet deep. Our action died around 9 so we went up to Mullens Cove.......dead, fished a few areas down river and I caught a little mean spot. That was it, nothing else, heck we could have ended the Tx at 8:30. We both had a great time and I got to meet a few new folks. I also got to turn green with envy as I passed Mr. Whiskers house on the way to the lake and noticed a big, shiny 20 foot Triton sitting out front. Very nice. Great job Cutthroat and really great job on the muffins.

Awsome ride. I plan on buying it if all works out. I will keep everyone posted.

The results from this event and from those in the past speak for themselves...you are an excellent all-around fisherman, Davo.

I was thinking the same thing!emoWorthy I think you need to change your handle from Davo to Mr. Consistency. Very good results for a hard day to get a keeper. I wanted to thank Cutthroat for putting this one on and doing the coffee and muffins. It was also nice to finally meet Summers. Great day to be on the water with a great bunch of folks.emoThumbsup

Me and 20SS had similar results to that of Davo. We started off on the moss in the big bay behind Marion. Right off 20ss said fish on and a nice 16 incher came into the boat. Right as it got to the boat it jumped and I netted it in mid air "off" the hook!emoTongue About 15 minutes later 20SS again said, Fish On! and again a 16 incher.(Both on a buzz) High fives and we thought we were on our way to winning this one but it was not to be. 20SS had two more hits and one was a big fish that he had for a spit second and it came off.emoDoh We at that time left there which in hind sight we should have stayed but the day before we had a bunch of fish over by the power lines on top so we headed over there. Nothing and we hit it hard. There was a lot of boats in there and seemed like no one was doing any good. I guess Davo may have been one of them but we did not know that was you. We headed down to the dam and fished several areas including a hump out in the main lake and there I hooked a hog on a buzz over grass just under the surface, I could not turn it and it did me in. She buried me down in some deep grass and had me hung. The stuff was very thick and we had no choice but to go in after her. I could feel her on the line but right as we got there I felt her no more.emoBang That fish would have won and big fish for us as well so I guess it was the day of the one that got away. Finally on the end of the hump 20ss said,"Net!" and we boated what ended up being our third and final keeper.(White crankbait) A nice 15 and a quarter incher. Other than a couple more slicks we only managed to boat seven or eight fish today but we had the fish on that would have won it so it was still exciting. 20SS carried us today and if I could have done my part we would have been in the money but still a great day to be on the water and I really enjoyed fishing with 20SS over the two days. The thing about us is we both think and fish the same so several times we found ourselves changing to the same thing without even saying anything.emoSmile That can acutally be bad if niether of us are catching much. I kept trying to use something different in hopes of finding something they would bite better. I had a lot of fun and thanks to all who fished and again to Cutthroat.emoCool Jmax

RE: CFF Nickajack, 3rd place report

Good reports Davo and Jmax, good read.... sorry you all did not catch more fish but that's the way it goes sometimes. BTW, Davo, how many rods did it take to catch the fish for 3rd place???emoQuestion just wondering my friend...

RE: CFF Nickajack, 3rd place report

I only had 10 rods on deck which is why I did so poorly. I am positive that with 6 more rods we could have intimidated larger fish into biting.emoEnforce

You are very welcome 20SSemoWelcome I enjoyed your company and if I had just done anything on a keeper we would have been in there with Davo or maybe even second. But still, it was a very nice two days of fishing with ya.emoBigsmile Jmax
