Well, the weather actually turned out better than I expected. The wind was a bit rough at times but it also contributed to a decent day for Cope and I. We chose to fish laydowns with jigs, craws, and blades. Cope had a good keeper come unbuttoned close to the boat on a jig, and I lost another good one on a craw when it tangled me in branches. After setting the hook, I couldn't turn it as it dove for cover. Both those fish cost us big time. We ended the day with only 3 keepers and a bunch of smaller fish for a 7.99 lb bag and 5th place. I told Cope that it would take only 10-11 lbs to win. Save for the wind, it turned out to be a perfect day with the backdrop of the Fall colors. Water temps never exceeded 63 degrees. Our fish were caught in 3-10 feet of water. Perhaps the warmer weather during the first part of the upcoming week will turn them on big time. A big thanks to Cope for providing me with a great ride in his Skeeter. You'd have to look very hard to find a nicer guy. Good to see Rob, Jmax, Flip, Jason, and Davo again.
